IDENTITY VERIFICATION NOW MANDATORY – DEADLINE SET FOR 18 NOVEMBER 2025
Identity verification is becoming mandatory
From 18 November 2025, all company directors and people with significant control (PSCs) must verify their identity. This is a legal requirement under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023, aimed at preventing the misuse of UK companies.
You’ll need to complete identity verification before filing your next confirmation statement after this date. If you don’t, your company will be unable to file—and you may be committing an offence.
If you're a director of multiple companies, you must link your verified identity to each role. PSCs will have a 14-day window to submit their personal code to Companies House once the requirement goes live.
Act now to avoid delays
We strongly recommend starting the verification process early. This is especially important for companies with multiple officers or where directors/PSCs are based outside the UK, as additional time may be needed to complete verification.
How to verify your identity
You can verify your identity using one of the following methods:
Online via GOV.UK One Login – the fastest and most direct option
Through an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP) – such as a registered accountant or solicitor
In person at selected UK Post Offices – available for certain individuals after using the online service
Check your details
Before verifying, ensure your personal information (especially your date of birth) matches the records held at Companies House. Mismatched details will prevent successful verification.
